By Sarada Symonds, Visiting Student Blogger

The Cliffs of Moher are definitely a must-see if you’re visiting Ireland.

Dublin is one of those cities that is steeped in history and culture, and Trinity College is right at the heart of it. However, Ireland is known as the Emerald Isle for a reason, and you should definitely plan to get out of the city and explore the rest of the island. Ireland has plenty of sites to see, and you’ll probably recognize some of those sites from movies and tv. However, while some of these sites are relatively close to Dublin, others require several hours of driving to reach. Other times, you may want to leave for a few days and see what the rest of Europe has to offer. Here’s some of the best ways to make sure you take advantage of your time here in Ireland.

St. Patrick’s Day in Ireland

By Isabella Gentleman

Visiting Student Blogger, St. Olaf College

Being in Ireland for St. Patrick’s Day feels an awful lot like being in the United States for the Fourth of July, sans warm summer weather and fireworks. But as an American, St. Patrick’s Day felt even more magical than that, maybe because of the Leprechauns and Pirate Queens, but more so because of the spirit and excitement even the Irish have about celebrating and getting the day to spend time with others. Yes, Dublin City – Temple Bar especially – is filled with tourists and teenagers looking for silly ways to spend the holiday, but there are so many ways to celebrate and enjoy this holiday without finding a pub or trying to squeeze your way through Temple Bar, with everyone and their brother, that night!

One of the best parts of being on exchange in a country I’d never visited before was the chance to explore all of it! Ireland is a beautiful country with a lot of history and atmosphere to absorb (and best of all, a lot of castles). Here are the spots I was lucky enough to visit over my time here, to provide you with a little bit of inspiration.

By Céline Brandstötter,

It seems like I just arrived in Trinity College but it has already been 3 months since my adventure here started. I had never been to Dublin or Ireland before so I didn’t know what to expect. I just got on the aeroplane and hoped for the best. It was the best decision I’ve ever made.

BITESIZE TOP 10 COURSES: LAW

Pavel is one of our US students who is in his final year in Trinity.  Here he lets us know about his experience of studying Law at Trinity, one of our Top 10 Courses.

Your name: Pavel Rozman

Where you’re from in the US: Philadelphia

Your year of study: Fourth year

Your programme of study / course: Law, LL.B

What made you decide to study your course at Trinity?

My mom was born and raised in Dublin, so anytime we were over visiting family we stopped by Trinity. It’s as central to the city as possible, and just gorgeous to walk through. I applied and when I got in, a high school teacher of mine asked me: “Will you regret passing on this incredible opportunity to go to the same state schools everyone else is?” I didn’t pass on that opportunity and I couldn’t be happier here. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. Professionally speaking the advantages it puts me at are incredible. I’m able to be a lawyer in the EU or Ireland/UK or the United States all for the time and price it would take most students to get only their undergraduate degree.

A Vegetarian in Dublin

By Tatiana Morand

People always ask me, “Isn’t it hard being vegetarian?” and without exaggeration, I always say no. (I also always get asked, “Do you eat salad all the time?” The answer to that is also no. Mostly I eat pasta.).

I get the desire to get out and see the world; I also get that it can be scary to consider moving thousands of miles away from your family, so I commend you for coming this far.
