Happy Lunar New Year! Goat Xi Fa Cai!

As we welcome in the Lunar New Year in the year of the goat/sheep, celebrations will be held in Dublin both run by several societies in Trinity College and within Dublin City itself. If you are missing the festivities from home, or you’d love to experience what the Lunar New Year celebrations are all about, check out these events!


Chinese New Year Dinner by the TCD Chinese Society

There will be a hot pot buffet dinner provided which is really worth the price! A large serving of meat, and free flow of seafood and vegetables will be available to cook in your very own personal hot pot of soup together with many others who you can get to know!

Chinese New Year Gala by the TCD Chinese Society

Free food and Chinese traditional (and non-traditional) games will be available together with the screening of the CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala which showcases the festivities occurring live in China.Picture 2

Chinese New Year Dinner by the TCD South East Asian Society

A traditional Chinese New Year dinner of 6 main dishes and a dessert (non-buffet) will be served in a round table setting (6 people per table so you get to know the others in a less crowded setting).

Chinese New Year Carnival by the Dublin City Council

Food stalls! Lion dances! Dragon dances! Martial art exhibitions and so much more will be happening once more in the middle of Dublin City!

Karaoke Session by the TCD Korean Society  

Enjoy a night of karaoke together with many others! The karaoke will be run by Youtube videos on a large screen so don’t worry about whether your favourite songs are available as they surely will!
